Screw You, Stereotypes!

Screw You, Stereotypes!

The only thing I dislike about this article and this situation is that it makes me feel bad about myself and my meager-in-comparison intelligence and accomplishments.

But f’yeah Lyndsey Scott for having beauty and brains, being able to exercise her creativity in such different, almost contrasting ways, and being a hard enough worker and a dedicated enough person to pursue all of the things she’s achieved so far! If she can do all that, I can drop 10 pounds and gain a little muscle, learn better Chinese, and do well in school for sure. Just gotta…turn on the…motivation…damnit…

i5cream!

Just gonna leave this here, KPop fans. If you’re an EXOst/EXOtic, you’ll be quite familiar with the first bit 🙂 i5cream does KPop remixes and original beats and I’ve been following her since her Big Bang’s Fantastic Baby (DropTheBass) remix. Definitely check her out and…

Thief with a Conscience

Thief with a Conscience

We’re not talking Robin Hood and the livelihoods of the poor here; we’re talking a man who victimized children and teenagers and videotaped it for posterity being brought to justice by a home invader. The guy even reported his house broken into, but obviously didn’t mention the tapes.

It’s a pretty delicious bit of justice and irony, I think. Also, the burglar was pretty smart about how he turned the tapes in.

Rational Charity

Heartwarming causes are nice, but let’s give to charity with our heads

The opportunity costs of charity and raising the question of altruism. This is why I was proud of my high school for selecting to donate to seven kids who needed surgery/treatment for cerebral palsy instead of choosing the more popular, and better marketed, WWF (World Wildlife Organization) or Salvation Army, which was getting supplies through another school event anyway.

Also, I now know of charitable organizations that I could (probably, research time!) be proud of sending my money to, and discussing, instead of only donating my time as I’ve been doing out of trepidation.

I am driving myself crazy

Describe your understanding of the restaurant industry.

Describe your understanding of the restaurant industry??

What would you have me to tell you, tidbits on industry standards, food standard history, types of machinery I know you guys use, summarize ValueLine’s industry analysis? Should I discuss techniques? Do you want me to talk about growing up with relatives all involved in the restaurant industry as immigrants? Do you want me to talk about waitressing, do you want me to talk about my fast food experience? Do you want me to talk about my friend in Canada who’s a chef? Do you want to hear me ramble about random paragraphs of food history?

Do you want me to talk about going to Cognac and melting under their truffle mac & cheese, feeling uptight and constrained at L’Allegria even though all I wanted to do was devour the table, judging the crap out of Chinese restaurants and sushi bars owned by Cantos, stuffing my mouth with Alfa Bagels on special school days, realizing that going to Momofuku was the only good thing about that day trip, eating Korean barbecue with so many friends at once, walking through Chinatown and having youtiao and congee with black eggs, egg tarts and pork floss buns, deep-fried daikon cakes, scallion pancakes, driving around New Jersey with a man who’s shown me so much that I can’t help but still, still, still miss him so much it makes me want to cry?

Momofuku, what do you want me to tell you? It’s a two week internship. I was told I was over thinking it, but how do you properly think about something that means so much?

Why do I even want to do this anyway?
