Especially now that we have a republican government that will work to keep private industries private and halt the de-privatization of industries that were heading that direction. I was browsing Kickstarter the other day after watching a video on the Japanese maker movement, reading some of my backed projects’ updates, and flipping through Penpal, a Kickstarter-funded horror novel I discovered and backed a while back, when I realized that I have never written anything about Kickstarter itself.
On Tuesday night, I got to see my favorite music group and Ed Sheeran on stage together (for like $35!) the other night which was all kinds of amazing.
I have just been alerted to the fact that waffle donut hybrids exist and can be had at the Waffles Cafe in Chicago. While this is wonderful, because donuts with the slight chewy and crispy texture of a waffle just goes so well with the sweetness of a donut (think cruller; those are my favorite types of donuts!) it is also terrible because I haven’t been to Chicago in years, I’m really bad at saving money, and I won’t be able to go until I have both money and time. And as the last semester of my undergraduate life is starting today, I may not have time until months from now, let alone money saved up.
Oh. Today’s the first day of the last semester of my undergraduate life.
Oh dear.
Oh.
Let’s hope this is the last semester, and I start my real adult life soon after *crossesfingers*.
Really quick post, just wanted to share what I’m totally going to do from now on.

Heartwarming causes are nice, but let’s give to charity with our heads
The opportunity costs of charity and raising the question of altruism. This is why I was proud of my high school for selecting to donate to seven kids who needed surgery/treatment for cerebral palsy instead of choosing the more popular, and better marketed, WWF (World Wildlife Organization) or Salvation Army, which was getting supplies through another school event anyway.
Also, I now know of charitable organizations that I could (probably, research time!) be proud of sending my money to, and discussing, instead of only donating my time as I’ve been doing out of trepidation.
