Penhaligon’s Vaara

Last one of this set. It’s been really fun trying out all of Penhaligon’s interpretations of womans’ fragrance, and I didn’t think I’d like this company anymore than I did but this set was delightful and now I own at least a little bit of 7 of their fragrances, which is crazy! The only other quantities I have to rival it is my number of L’Artisans and Annick Goutals. I love Serge Lutens as well, but I have like nothing sample or FB-wise relative to the number of fragrances I could have.

Alright, no more daydreaming. Let’s get on with the last one, shall we?

Paris Je T’Aime (Day 2)

Christ, who’d would post a gallery about the second portion of their trip a month after their trip ended?! What is wrong with that person?

*Cough.*

I’ve been busy okay. And being without proper wifi much of the time doesn’t help a stitch.

Since I’ve gotten back I’ve hit the ground running at 96 Spring St., the Google experiential pop-up shop that I was conscripted to work before my trip. Between my two jobs, plus freelance work, I’ve been slammed for time. Juggling everything is actually beginning to be a problem, so I’m thinking I’ll drop something in exchange for, ya know, my life.

Ormonde Jayne Rose Gold

I snagged this one up during Ormonde Jayne’s promotion celebrating the British team’s 67 medals in the Olympics! Too bad the US crushed that number with 121 medals and China edged you guys out at 70 as well, though Great Britain did get more gold medals.

Details aside, everyone did well this year at the Olympics and everyone had something to celebrate in Rio. Except, of course, for Ryan Lochte’s teammates who had to face the consequences of their (and his) actions while Mr. Lochte celebrated getting the hell out of Rio in business class and out of the clutches of Brazilian law enforcement; for a little while at least.

But I digress.

Guerlain Myrrhe et Delires

Okay so I disappeared again for a month. Whoops! I’ve been working hard for money to afford books and perfume remember? I’ll post some of the fruits of my labor later this week.

I received a decant of Myrrhe et Delires as one of those fruits.

The little cap on top of my decant smells like what violet candy tastes like to most young people: violets, vanilla, resin, and soap.

Imaginary Authors: Stories IV (Air of Despair)

IA-logoAn Air of Despair’s story reminds me of one its predecessors, the Littmus lozenges in Because of Winn-Dixie, a book about a dog, and the only one I can think of where the dog doesn’t die in the end (and it’s set in suburbia, a stark contrast to Where the Red Fern grows which casually tears your heartstrings apart and chews on them like tobacco set in rural backcountry.) Cheap Fragrances Review – Amazon Edition

Now that I’ve graduated school and have a job, you would think I would be less broke but that assumption is incorrect. Being a hedonist in a city is quite the balancing act, though I think I’ve been balancing it well, and my business school education definitely comes in handy when it comes to budgeting and restraint.

Because of my limited spending money, I think it’s worth taking the time to troll grey market sites and second-hand stores for gems. This time around, I stumbled around on Amazon and ended up picking out three that I thought would be diamonds in the rough.
