Really quickly, and I acknowledge this is a weird way to jumpstart my blog again and I’m going to go ahead and promise absolutely nothing, I wanted to write about this brand I’ve never heard of and was wholly uninterested in until I did this year’s Sniffapalooza Fall Ball and the brand was at Bergdorf Goodman.
Subtitle: Maybe if I write this out I’ll take my own advice or something I dunno.
Take your frustrations out on this very heavy cube in Astor Place. Alcohol not included but semi-recommended.
What is: hustling.
Hustling is when you bust that backside and get things done in a fast-paced, excellent way, keeping up energy and pace while doing so. If you rode the New York City subway anytime during the warmer months this year, Vitamin Water had a whole campaign about their difference elixirs supporting your hustle. Casper mattresses support your hustle. In fact, I think the only services not promoting a hard working culture were like, the antisocial Seamless/GrubHub ads and the StreetEasy ads targeting gentrifiers but I digress.
I’ve been indulging my fragrance hobby for more than a year now, but only fairly quietly in the safety of my own home and in the awkward embrace of the internet. However. This changed last Friday when I attended my first Sniffapalooza event; the free kick-off at Twisted Lily, my own local niche fragrance Mecca that I’ve purchased from before, but ever only online. The website’s treated me well though, some of my old posts like 6 Scents 6 Selves, my UNUM review, my Twisted Lily favorites review, and my InekeA-HreviewsweresourcedfromTwistedLily (click on each word for a different Ineke review!)
Review’s at the bottom! I got a little carried away with the opinion part.
Florida was a fun find while browsing NYC’s famous (opened in 1971) Pearl River Mart before its depressing brick and mortar close in December because of a giant rent hike at the end of this year’s lease. Pearl River Mart houses tons of Asian/Chinese clothing, plateware, mugs, teapots, cooking utensils, chopstick designs, a small selection of instant noodles, various sauces, and Asian snacks, as well as a tea balcony, a bunch of random knick-knacks downstairs, and plants.
Bloo, my stuffed representation of the internet sensation Boo started smoking under the supervision of my boyfriend. I am so disappointed.
I decided it would be a lovely idea to leave Bloo with Mr. Chokkattu for a fun day at his office and workplace, to be returned to me the next time he sees me this week: Tuesday, if nothing goes wrong. The morning went fairly well:
Recipe from the SORTED boys, whom I met the other week when they visited NYC for the Today Show, cheerily enough. I think I love them more now that I’ve met them. They’re a little shorter than I thought they would be, but at 5’1″ that’s not really a thing I can get hung up on, haha. This one’s my favorite picture. Credits to Mr. Chokkattu, linked above.
I started my new job today. And the hectic craziness that is going to be my life until at least May. And if I have it my way, the rest of my non-retired life will be fairly similar.
Sleepy train station picture! One transfer, about an hour (more like 40 minutes), all-in-all a decent commute. I don’t start too early, so there isn’t that much of a fight for sitting room which is nice.
Nope. I think when I was younger Avril Lavigne was playing at a state fair and my dad might have snuck me in for a bit. That doesn’t count. I kind of went to see Janelle Monae in Prospect Park when she was doing that $5 concert, but we were really late, and then my friends wanted to fuck around outside so I didn’t actually get in, so much as hang out in the park with them while she played.
Buuut I’m going to see Block B this Sunday! I’m super excited about that too 😀 I should go listen to some Block B stuff so that I’m not totally confused at the concert…I might even bother to learn a fanchant.
Not that after watching that I was any less confused. Ah well. It was fun, I do like Block B :3
If my parents don’t insist I stay home and do nothing, for my birthday I’m going to do EDX at Webster Hall, so I’ll drop something for that here too!
And in the fall…
I’m in love with this band. I actually pre-ordered their first album that came out last year. I don’t buy physical CDs and haven’t since I was like 13.
I’m hoping to see them in NYC in the fall. My boyfriend promised he’d buy tickets and I can pay him back later.I really, really hope we get the tickets. I would be the happiest thing, seriously.
